Presidential candidate Ashraf Ghani is harnessing the power of technology to reach out to and mobilize Afghan citizens all over the world. Ashraf Ghani launched his global campaign website, www.ashrafghani.af, on May 4th and within two days had received thousands of visitors.
The website, available in English and soon to be released in Dari and Pashto, describes Ashraf Ghani’s vision for Afghanistan, including details of his ten year plan, and provides daily updates on the course of his campaign for the presidency.
In a first for Afghan politics, Ashraf Ghani also encourages Afghan citizens living outside the country to participate in his campaign by asking supporters to vote, host campaign events, and make a financial donation to the campaign.
The results, so far, have been tremendous, with financial support coming from Afghans all over the world, from professionals to students. Afghans everywhere are mobilizing behind Ashraf Ghani and his vision of an honest, democratic and modern Afghanistan.
